Hey guys, I'm having abit of trouble with my PC. I've just removed an internal hard drive which I don't need to use anymore and tried to start up only for it to POST, then my monitor going into power saving mode then my PC restarting. Tried resetting BIOS settings and moving the CMOS jumper to no avail, any ideas guys?

Check you haven't knocked something out of place like any of the ATX power connector, or that there isn't anything shorting inside.

Check also the front panel connectors are correct and in place.

Is this a SATA or older IDE drive?

OptimaLnrg thanks for the advice, Just tried booting from the DVD drive and a drive from another computer and all works fine, I didn't think that removing a drive that wasn't a primary would mess stuff up up. Thanks Guys! :)

is your boot an ssd?

sometimes when installing windows with an ssd and a secondary hdd in (maybe 2 hdds two, never tried) windows will put the boot on the ssd but for some reason shove the system reserved partition on the hdd. The pc needs the system reserved to boot.

If you install windows with only the ssd installed it will put everything on the ssd and boot times will be faster.

Mine was doing this when I got home yesterday. I unplugged it all for a bout 10 minutes in which time I hoovered out the dust. When I plugged it back in it just worked. Maybe try leaving it disconnected fomr the mains for a bit?
