Just had the following message from a mate who wants me to test his PC for him :-

'My Computer shuts down and then restarts showing a black screen saying American Megatrends Power supply surges detected during the previous power on.Asus Antisurge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit.

Is my power supply Corsair 750w cs series modular 80 plus gold ultra quiet faulty. If so could you recommend a replacement. It shuts down when i try to play my Fight Sims.'

Could this be anything other than the PSU? I'm going to remove and reconnect all of the connectors for starters, but any advice would be much appreciated.

Double check that all the power connectors are securely fitted into the motherboard and the PSU firstly, rule that out. Have you got another PSU to test on the build? Could also be the motherboard playing up.

I've got a Corsair RM750i in an old build of mine, so I'm going to try powering it with that if all of the connectors on the old PSU are solid.

I know he moves it around quite a bit, so I'm hoping it's just something come loose.

What's the full part list of PC?

Anyway if it's older PC that Corsair CS isn't made of best parts and Corsair trusts it only for minimal 3 year warranty.

I'm not 100% sure, it's probably about 5 or 6yrs old. I know it's an overclocked Intel Core i5-4690 with a 4GB GTX970, but not sure other than that.

I appear to have sorted it. :)

Reset the CPU overclock - still crashing
Updated the BIOS - still crashing
Reset the Nvidia custom settings - working perfectly

Going to run a couple of stress tests too, hopefully it will see him through for a while longer now.
