All built and running, installing bits and pieces now, how ever, I seem to havea high pitched scream...eeeeeee...coming from it, but it will break on and off as if somthing is being acess, used if you get my meaning...its a deathly quiet unit if only for this so its very noticable...any ideas what could be causing it?

have you visually checked that nothing moving is catching in the machine?
when does it screech the most? boot up? when at desktop? opening apps?

Sounds like the hard drive is dying run hdtune and do a health check, or it could be a dodgy fan bearing and you can hear it speeding up and down like on the gfx card

The fans are ok, I could almnost sweat its coming from the motherboard, its not a rattly sound..already had to roof off and moved stuff about., i really does sound like sommin being acessed or somthign like that...both of the HDs are brand new.

It doesnt sound mechanical, but then i could be wrong as I havnt heard a bad Fan bearing sounds!

GFx card is silen, no fan, just a large 120mm exhause fa on teh back, and the CPU fan, but it doesnt gradually go away and come back...its stright onnnnn....off.....on.....off...ooooooooooooonnnnnn....off

That will be my next mov but started installing some stuff so dont want to interupt that, but realistically what if anything would the other completely empty drive do when I boot it?, im 80% sure when i was making sure the power was booting to the motherboard it was making this sound.

Well ive notced that when I click on teh "back" button in firefox and "forward" between pages here, itll sound slightly for about half a second, then stop...then again when I hit forward.

But it would do it randomly on its own.

And going by the HD LED light on the firnt...its not sounding at times when the HD appears to be accessing.

could be a problem with the PSU fan. If the fan's not on most of the time, you'll get silence, as soon as the computer draws a bit more power, the fan turns on, and the noise starts, power use does down again, noise stops.

Its acting to accuratly to be a fan TBH, a fan coulnt react as precisly when im clicking on things.

Also noting that I can make it do the sound when I grab and move a window around, itll screech as i move it around rather fasst....then stop as quickly as I do, now I have had teh GPU for months and its been fine...could it be somthing on the Motherboard GPU?

PSU coil whine probably, either that or a capacitor on the graphics card screeching. Often these things are caused by resonance and changing the frequency can reduce or stop it. For some reason my PSU whines when I run at stock clocks on my CPU/mobo. When I run overclocked it is vastly reduced.

I discovered after I bought my setup that Ocz psus do whine when matched with my UD5 motherboard. When I install a different PSU the noise goes completely.

Thank you..."wine", thats a better description for the sound.

Any ideas...its deffo not the HDs, opened it up and pressed my ear to them, but my GPU sits right under the PSU, but if what I recall before about hearing it when jsut checking the Motherboard, its makes more sense that its the PSU, anything I can do about this?...the PSU came with teh case...bought from here.

One of those £30 OCUK cases that comes with a power supply in the price? A PSU is not something you want to buy too cheap. Most people buy more expensive power supplies.

Yea, I have and older TruPower 430w PSU here, not sure if it would power this tho

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz
OCZ Reaper Low-Latency 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 12800C6 (1600MHz)
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G (Socket AM3) microATX DDR3 Motherboard
OcUK Phoenix 910 MicroATX Case - Black (650W PSU)
x 2 - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM

Tho just to test with, if it did turn out to be that, I would buy a new one!.

My system oc to 4ghz, Full atx, 4890 (190w card) and it consumes just over 400w at load. At idle it consumes 200w. So I'd imagine for testing purposes you'd be fine.

Right ill grab that later tonight and see whats what.

Did the Windwos performance test just to see, and the wine strobbed as it was testing the CPU...looking more like the PSU then I guess.

Tealc beat me to it. I would bank on it coming from the psu. Hdds can make odd noises but that is usually a clicking sound tbh and worn fan bearings can also be distracting....if a whine is a better description of the noise i think tealc has hit the nail on the head though

Swapped it for the other PSu...not a squeek.
Many many thanks, as that would have been like a drill in my head!

Do you have speakers plugged in - if so is the sound coming from there. I've had this with interference pickup in the analogue parts of the sound system.

Edit: sorry - missed that you had fixed it.
