My screen keeps going green when im watching videos from gamespot. This is worring as the pc is buzzing and makes loud sounds when turning on but it has to last till mid november. Also sometimes the keys on the keyboard dont work.

What do you think is happening? Im guesing this is my graphics card dieing on me, well i hope its not the screen!

If its just the videos, but the rest of windows is unaffected, then I would say its more likely an issue with codecs than anything else. If it was the screen or graphics card, then I would expect the desktop background, and windows menus to change colour, get corrupted, not just the videos. Do video's from other sources play ok.. I suppose it could be the graphics card, as the 8800's can help with hardware decoding of video, with the appropriate codecs... Id still try codec updates before anything else though.

I dont have a 8800 yet:P thats my november build. This pc needs to last till november but with the way its buzzing and ticking and things are going green i dont think it will.

It only seems to happen in windows media player so far. But ive not played a game for a while so it could happen in a game too. I wonder if perhaps the graphics card is overheating due to a clogged up fan.

As corasik said it is more than likely codecs, if it is just windows media player going green then it is not your card. i had this same problem ages ago, i think i tweaked the hardware acceleration settings in wmp and reinstalled codes to get rid of it. Also it was on gamespot that i had the problem with videos.

O really. Thats good to know :)

What do you think about the very loud buzzing and ticknig sounds and scratching sounds, especialy when it turns on. It sounds like it shall explode. Its not really in my intrest to fix it as the sooner it dies the sooner i get to build my new pc but i just want it to die in november not October :P

About the sounds well i suppose it could be lots of things, i have on the extremely odd occasion started my pc up and had screeching before now, went away after a few seconds and never came back, who knows pcs are strange things.

Just keep plodding along with it for now :)

loud buzzing and ticknig sounds and scratching sounds, especialy when it turns on < thats usually a combination of a fan thats bearings are almost shot and full of gunk (grinds + buzzes + scratches untill it warms up enough)

any electrical whistles are usually a coil (inductor) someplace thats a touch loose untill it warms up.

As Amonlyn said it's probably a fan starting up, the scratching and clicking is also possibly the HDD ot an optical drive seeking or re-setting the laser.
