Pc showing signs of slow down and stuttering

Hey guys!

lately ive been noticeing a bit of slow down here and there on my pc

theres also a windows update everyday that seems to hang at 24% and doesnt seem to be helping much.

ive got a standard q6600 go 2.4ghz

ati radeon 6950 2gb about 2 months old.

4 GB ram

windows 7


could it be a problem with ram or cpu? both these components are about 4-5 years old. i would overclock it but i dont know how and everytime i try the pc wont boot after adjustments

Possibly screwed up update. Check the logs.

Run memtest86 overnight on the ram.
