PC Shutdowns MSI GTX 970

I am experiencing random total PC shutdowns while playing Shadow of Mordor. It usually happens after 10-15mins but can be as long as 1hr. I've got MSI afterburner running and the log files dont show any high temps. Max the GPU got to was 59degrees. The CPU temps are fine at 61degrees.

The PC shutsdown totally and then after a minute or so fires up again by its self..

I am posting this in the Graphics section as its only starting happening when I installed the 970.

Where do I start in fault finding this? It hasnt happened in any other game but Shadow of Mordor...

CPU temps?
Remove any OC CPU/gpu and test,
Run memtest

And as above possibly psu, check the amount of amps your gpu uses then check what psu is rated for.

Also check in windows error reports and look for anything that is critical, if it is a psu ocp problem then this will probably not be shown.

What GPU were you using before the upgrade? From my experience a hard shut down could either be a motherboard or PSU problem.

PSU is rated at 70A so shouldnt be a problem there...

Max. current 12 V - Rail 1 70 A
Max current 12 V 70 A
Max. current 5 V 25 A
Max. curren 3.3 V 25 A

But why in only Shadows of Mordor and not in Dead Rising 3 or any other game I play... confusing...

What age is the supply?

Odd that it's just that game though - it's a pretty new game isn't it? Could just need a patch for stability maybe?!?

Like others have said though I'd see the PSU as the possible culprit. The only time I've had similar issues the PSU was to blame.

report back with the 600w connected if you have the same problem.

than revert CPU back to stock try again if same problems occurs than its 100% to do with the the driver.

"It hasnt happened in any other game but Shadow of Mordor"

so its affecting just one game hmm ....

I'll put the PSU in and see if it fixes it....
