Greetings!

Man it's been a while since I've needed to browse for components but then again.. I buy them here so no wonder heh.

Specs:
CPU- AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core (@stock voltage & clock but I used to OC a few years ago)
Cooler- Corsair H105 with 2 fans side by side below the rad on "pull" through the roof of the case
Case - Corsair 540 Cube
Mobo - Asus 990fx Revision 2
RAM - 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance
Gfx - Radeon 7950 Pro (still holding up!)
OS - Windows 7 64-bit

Other - 3 SSDs, 1 CD-R/W, 1 Floppy drive, 2 x 120mm Case fans (1 in at front, 1 out at back)

Previous PSU - Seasonic G 750W 80Gold Modular (2014) - I still have it
Subbed in PSU - Akasa 500W since Summer 2017

Stated running into an intermittent issue last year where my Pc would just power down, not shut down.. Power off, like a power cut would but only when under load. So I checked temperatures, hmm.. all good and assumed it was PSU.

I had an old Akasa 500W spare so through it in and all was good again.

Then just after Christmas I re-installed World of Warships, or rather I tried to.. twice. And found that Using their downloader, twice @ 16.1gb remaining.. Shutdown.

Hmm, I'd occasionally around the time had some boot problems, with Master Boot Record not being found. Computer had been almost constantly on, going into sleepmode instead of being turned off.. It had had a hammering.. sometimes for 2 days at a time over December as I was housebound from an operation so I thought i'd re-install Windows and take the oppurtunity for a "spring clean", use a 120Gb drive for windows instead of a 60Gb, plus it had been a few years since re-install anywho.

No more boot problems, but world of warships still shuts the comp down during the download. I figure its the downloader itself, lots of splash screens constantly going, cycling news articles. My connection isnt great with total download time being around 8 hours and figured that an hour of this strain was enough to cause something to overheat.

However I tried through Steam instead so it wasnt using their downloading software and it installed fine, even ran fine.. Had a whole Saturday on it once even. (at this point i'm assuming it was the downloader not being process efficient because hey.. I'm playing!)

However last Sunday it did it again.. Powered down after 10 mins of playing. And this is now the norm if I try to play.

Investigating the temperatures again, hmm.. all mobo temps mid 20's, with capacitor area holding steady at 40, CPU too.. mid 40's idle and highest at 61 with Twitch or Youtube, many webpages, transferring files etc.

Just incase I replace the thermal compound and reseat the H105 block and afterwards if there is a change.. I cant tell accurately.

So what am I asking for exactly?

1 - Someone to confirm my suspicions that its time for another PSU and if so.. perhaps a recommendation with a £100 limit?
or
2 - Someone to think of something i'm missing and give me something else to investigate or try.

I'd love for this problem to be software related.. Perhaps a setting somewhere in the BIOS that shouldnt be on, but knowing my PSU is old and of quality unknown.. I'd feel better diagnosing with that changed.

Thanks all for reading and off topic, it's cool to see this place still going :) I think I first registered here when I was using hand me down components from family members and trying to help cool a K6 with origami'd tinfoil ducts and 40mm fans sellotaped on heh.

It does sound like a hardware issue but is it just that game?
Have you tried running a benchmark on a loop and see if it shuts down then?

If it is a hardware issue then it should still crash with other games or benchmarks.
