After about 1 hours use my new build PC shuts down and won't restart. E2140 with Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R, 1 sata HD, 1 DVDRW, 1DVD, Geforce 8800GT, Antec 380 Earthpower.

New ram was fitted, PNY 677 and it's not overclocked.

No brass pins spuriously causing shorts, oh I also have a couple of case fans as well. When PC shuts down it won't restart until a good couple of hours PROPERLY. By taking the power lead in/out psu it will semi-boot fior 5 seconds, then power off.

Is the PSU at fault? I have tried another PSU - EZCOOL 450W but it does the same.

My old motherboard was a Fatal1ty HD-190 and that worked fine with the ANTEC, I can only assume the Gigabyte uses MORE power and is casuing the PSU to overload.

Have you monitored the temps at all?

Try booting up into the bios, and watching the cpu temp or something for a little while...See how much it rises etc.

If you can do it in windows for most of the components as well...Could possibly be a heat issue. Worth a try either way.

Cleared Cmos?

You could always try an older bios version if you have the time. It could still be the PSU though.

Hopefully someone has had a similar problem and can help a fair bit more. You got any tests you can run to stress the system, and then monitor the temps? Cause you say it shuts down after gaming.

I was writing a letter when it shut down. The temps seem ok, see attached pic, they don't deviate much from as they are now.

Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R?

What a surprise.

Mate i've got one, and its just one thing after another.

I had problems with mine resetting, since then i've got a new HD, installed Vista 64b from XP, and and from an Antec 400w to OCZ 600w, and although it hasn't reset since, it keeps trying too, keeps spinning the fans down, and making the clicky power down noise, but actually stays on.

God only knows.

I'm on F8, drivers up to date, all power things in the BIOS disabled, still wants to shut down.

Yes but at least it has good onboard audio!

No, seriously it is annoying, more so since it won't reboot immediatley after a shutdown. I am going to buy a 750 Winpower PSU and see if that cures it. I have installed an uptime gadget in Windows XP sidebar to see if it is hourly or what not it shuts down, there is a few seconds before it dies completely.

I am on F8 also dokko.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. One day my computer wouldn't boot, so I put in a new, slightly more powerful PSU. My computer would boot up, but cut out when put under a lot of strain (games e.t.c). It wouldn't start up for about 2 hours after it cut out. I could take the lead out and put it back in, but when it booted it would be unstable, and sometimes it wouldn't even power the peripherals. I then put in a MUCH more powerful PSU, and haven't had any trouble since. :) So my suggestion is, well, try a more powerful PSU.
