Pc shutting off while running garrysmod

My computer has run garrysmod perfectly fine without fault for nearly 2 years and for some strange reason the computer just turns itself off at random points while the game is running. This happens in no other game other then garrysmod.

I'd clean it and then see if it still happens, the more mods and items you have added to the game, the harder it is to run.

Theres a guide on steams website on how to 'clean' it.

Thats the thing i reinstalled vista onto another harddrive and its still doing it.

I cannot understand why it would be overheating, Garrysmod isn't the most demanding game so i cannot see why my hardware would not be able to play it.

make sure the fans are turning and check temps... it could be faulty cooling.

I Used To Get A Similar Problem With My Old P4 3.4GHz Northwood PC, Turned Out To Be The Heatsink Was Not Making A Good Enough Contact The CPU, Cleaned It And Added Some New Compound And Worked Fine From Then.

just a stab in the dark but could be because source games utilize a lot of the CPU instead of GPU (apparently im not too sure though) so it could be that your CPU is banging on @ 80-90% and then overheating. If you sort the problem (which may be overheating) let us know how you fixed it!

Its probably not crashing on desktop because your CPU is @ idle. Try running prime or a program that maxxes your cores and see if it crashes
