Hi all, these are my system specs

200gb wd hd
dvd burner
C2D 6300 @ stock
zalman 9500
antec 900

Tagon 500w PSU

Anyway lately I am starting to see some slowdowns, I mean games are starting to lag I tryed the new need for speed undercover and it gets quite choppy. What small upgrade could I do to improve performance. I don't have much spare cash atm but around £50 I was thinking of some more ram?

Phil

Depending on what OS you have, you might benefit from some more ram. You could always try to overclock your CPU to see if that helps out at all. I would put my money towards a better graphics card though if the CPU overclock didn't help out.

Agreed, firstly OC your CPU, secondly if everything in general is slowing down you could try a reformat and fresh install, that might give it a little boost, and finally yeah your most impproved performance would be from a new gfx card, though £50 wouldnt cut it, but if you can stretch to double that you could get a nice 4830 which would boost the system quite significantly in terms of gaming
Re RAM, if you only have a 32 bit O/S then you're not gonna see any real improvements in this area as they cant see more than 3 gig anyway

I have a copy of 64 bit vista, I could format put 64 bit on and 4gb more ram on the offer thingy thats on ocuk. and overclock what sort of speed do you think I would get with 6gb ram though?

The other thing you need to be wary of is mixing your RAM, you'd prob have to bin your old RAM and use the new stuff to avoid any issues. You should see quite an improvement in your desktop environment but it wont affect your gaming too much, for that as said before you'd need to bite the bullet and fork out for a new gfx card really

Umm, I think id rather just spend the cash on a 360 then. It's not majorly slowdown! And to think I payed £160 quid just over 2 years ago for my 2gb ram! now it's £30 for 4 gig

I already have a decent cooler, But I don't think I can get my ram anymore, It's the demonator stuff with the heatsinks :(
