pc slower than a turtle

basically i turned my pc on yesterday and it was "slower than a turtle" it took 3 hours just to get the taskbar up and even then it was still loading........ the tyhing is i didnt install or change anything .....i only scanned it two days ago (with avg) so im not sure .... any ideas ...... ? :confused:

Well it could be spyware or a virus i guess, try an online virus scan like kaspersky, just google to find it.

Are you sure you didnt scan with Ad-Aware?

i have spyware doctor which scans every 30 mins or so

A scan every 30 minutes seems overkill? Is it not this which is slowing your pc down?
Have you looked in task manager for processes hogging your system resources?

basically my pc loads up ... login....baclkground appears hour later ..... icon appears (firefox shortcut...only thing on me desktop) 20 mins after that yahoo widget appears......long long long time after that task bar appears very slow....... was able to get win patrol runnin nd was able to uninstall winblinds but after that pc is so slow cnt even open firefox ..... explorer ie or any other programme now ......... bar task manager

ive killed it i reset the cmos it killed it....died....caput......wont load xp (wnt get past the hardware details screen)
