Well its that day where I have sold my QX6700 8800GTX machine and moving over to the new 3.0GHz iMac with a 8800GS and I cant wait to get my hands on it. I got £750 for my machine and now just waiting to sell the Dell 24" I have. Then its off to the apple store in Exeter to grab my new toy :D

I've got a Macbook pro at the mo so I know what OSX is like, but still cant wait .

Anyone else got the new 3.0Ghz one?

Why'd you ditch the QX rig? It sounds like you've made a significant step down in performance.

Just fancy a all in one solution, don't really play games any more and my rig makes a bit of noise with the fans etc and the iMac is nice and quiet. Just wanted to try something new and I dont think its going to be that much of down step.

If i hate the mac I can always sell it as they hold there price really well and then build another PC. ;)

I've had the 3ghz one for a few weeks.

It's louder than I would like (graphics card being the prime suspect here) and Windows is quite buggy (power management issues and the occasional crash).

The above took the shine off a bit, but I'm still reasonably happy with my purchase.

Have you played any games in vista/xp yet. I have vista on my MBP and don't get any problems. Fingers crossed I dont with the iMac.

I've played a few Source games, TF2 mostly, which ran fine.

The crashes occur when turning on/off certain pieces of hardware in device manager (wireless card, network card will crash it every time) and occasionally playing old C&C games.

The biggest issue is the power management (or lack of). Windows can't turn off the monitor, it can't go into standby by itself and it only occasionally runs the screensaver.

At first I thought it was a buggered XP install, but I've found several threads of people exhibiting the same problems.
