Hey all,

Hopefully this is the right place, I assume it's something to do with my mobo.

Basically when I turn on my pc, sometimes it will boot to the bios screen. If I go to look at what HDDs are connected my SSD doesn't show. If I reboot, sometimes it'll boot straight into windows just fine. Any some other times it'll go to Windows repair, which again, just by rebooting will fix it. There's no common pattern though, sometimes it'll boot straight to Windows, sometimes it'll take 3-4 tries.

Once Windows has booted I have no issues. No crashes or anything. The SSD is new, although I believe it did it with an older one I had too, although I'm not totally sure on that.

Any suggestions as to what might be up? I updated my bios but no difference.

Here's my rig btw:

295x2
Maximus Hero VII
12GB of Corsair RAM, don't know exact name.
i7 4790K
100GB OCZ SSD
1 TB HDD

Any help would be really appreciated.

Nope guess I should do that haha pretty stupid of me. I guess I assumed if it worked sometimes and sometimes not it without me doing anything it wasn't a cable issue.

Your OS is on the SSD I take it?

When mine wasn't recognised, it turned out to be the power cable not fully plugged in after I repositioned it.

Changed cable and firmly plugged in power. Still issues. It's weird, sometimes there's no SSD detected at all, and sometimes it boots to Windows advanced startup repair.

Updated to latest and still same issue.

Does your PC lock up ever with HDD light stuck on or flashing rapidly? I had an OCZ vertex that would sometimes not be detected in bios like yours is doing. Eventually my PC started locking up and then the drive failed completely. OCZ replaced it with a new one that developed exactly the same fault 6 months later.

Back everything up if you have anything important on the drive just in case.

Interesting. I will look out for freezes etc and an eye on the light. I backupped a couple of days ago, and reformatted so if it does fail it's not the end of the world.
