Recently my PC has occasionally been struggling to boot. Sometimes it's fine, and boots straight up.
But others, it continuously starts up, then shuts down, repeating this sometimes over 10 times. Sometimes it will eventually just boot in on one of those tries, but other times I usually just leave it for a while and try again, with it usually working but not necessarily straight away.
It doesn't get to the exact same place in the boot process every time, but will never reach the Windows loading point until it finally works.
It has never once crashed on me while running, and I play some intensive games fairly regularly and have never had a single issue.
My CPU was overclocked at one point, but put it back to stock speeds a while ago, so everything is at stock values at the moment.
I have installed a new GPU and new Motherboard fairly recently, but this boot issue didn't appear until some time after that.
PC specs:
i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Thermalright Silver Arrow Cooler
Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz RAM
Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SSD
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II HDD
XFX Pro 650W Core Edition PSU
Windows 7 64bit
So, any ideas?
My first thought was not enough power from the PSU, seeing as I know the 7970 is pretty intensive, plus maybe my new motherboard is more power hungry than my last, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to make any kind of informed judgement on it.
