Hey Folks.

Last week I popped on the forum asking a few questions about my new specification.

The following was decided and I'm now ready to press that all important 'Buy' button.

I just wanted to clarify, that everything still looks good? and that there has been no major changes since last week lol.

I decided to throw in a new monitor for for good measures.

I have 1 problem.

the Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound which was recommended, has sold out. is there a good alternative?

I'm upgrading from the following. I know, I know, prehistoric!

CPU: AMD 2800+
MEMORY: 1GB RAM
GRAPHICS: 6800GT
MOBO: ASUS A7N8X2.0
MONITOR: 17"

Thanks, Mo

Artic silver 5 is a good alternative, although not as good. You get a lot more with MX-2 and the temps are lower, but only a small diffirence.

Yeah everything looks fine to me, IMO I wouldn't have two harddrives, I'd rather get 1x 500gb. But it doesn't really matter, and if you put them in raid 0, it will be nice and fast. :)

The Noctua NH-U12P comes with a tube of some thermal compound, dunno if it's any good, I'm just gonna use MX-2 with mine, as I already have it.

i thought that the arctic silver 5 resulted in lower temps compared to the mx-2 in the end but you needed to give it time to bed in...
