Hey all,

Hit the power button on my PC this morning, heard it whir into life and then cut off again, the on and then off again over and over without me pressing the power button. I suspect it's a PSU issue (hopefully) but just wanted some input before I fork out some cash.

Thanks

Russ

Continuous restart yeah?.

Firstly, disconnect all the Front Panel connectors from the head pins on the motherboard then clean the pins with a soft brush. Test the connection by shorting the 2 PWR pins with a flat head screw driver. If that works then replace the FP connectors.

If the problem has gone, it's likely the dirt was causing you the problems, if the problem remains, you may have a short on the FB cables.

Secondly, if the problem still persistent even with the screw driver test, then check your PSU using my guide here:

Ok I'll try that later, FYI this PC has been running fine for a couple of years so not a build issue.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3

Try resetting the bios by removing the battery located on the board for 10-15 mins. But make sure that you do not have any power going to the pc. ie, unplug it from the wall.
