Hi,

ive noticed my pc is emitting a slight squeaking sound its intermittent say one squeak every 5 seconds. I have tested the fans and i am pretty sure its not them so i think it might be the HDD.

The HDD is a spintpoint F1 1tb drive - any1 had any experience with these drives squeaking and is there a way to fix it?

The only other fan i havent tested is the psu fan which it may be as that does spin at low rpm... its a corsair 620watt modular...

Any1 have any ideas?

Right i will definately try that.

The graphics card theory sounds pluasable as i did install a new HD5770 on the weekend (replacing my 7900gt) and thats when i noticed it.

Will this squeaking stop after time because its one of those annoying little things see'ing as ive gone for quieter options with regards to cooling and chassis on my PC...

Well my PSU is a 620watt corsair so its not a cheapo one and its only 1 year old + it didnt squeak the other day with my old gfx card.

Why do these new gfx cards squeak its stupid i want a quiet one :S ...

Will it get worse over time or will it stay the same?

Right i have found out the cause of the squeaking... its my psu fan.. a corsair 620watt modular... does any1 have any suggestions as to what i should do? i have had it under 12months

Right well i brought it from OCUK so i have posted on the RMA section of the forums. Hopefuly they will let me swap it there and then for a similar model (pref the 650watt modular as the 620 is no longer around) as i cant be without my psu as i use my pc for busines use.

I know its the psu. I put my pc in standby mode - stopped all fans... its the psu fan as it was squeaking then i pushed on the fan to make it stop and it did - then it rotated again and it started squeaking.

I'm going to buy a can of compressed air and fire that at it to see if that fixes it as it may just be dusty.

Ocuk want the psu to test it which means id be without a psu for however long so i am going to try and contact corsair direct for a like for like exchange if they do it.

Worst comes to worst I'll wait until it dies and do the warrenty then with OCUK as its a 5 year one.
