Hi Guys,

New to this forum and after searching through I couldn't really find anything relating to my problem so I thought I might ask here.

I purchased this bundle from OCUK back in November:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-003-OB&tool=3

And thus far I have been very pleased with the performance. I have a slight problem though, recently I've been running into some stability issues, and they are quite odd.

Firstly I download from a lot of newsgroups, and recently I've found that on large downloads, at some point, my PC will just reboot or lock up leaving me with no choice but to reboot.

Secondly, in Aion (which I'm getting quite frustrated with but thats a whole new thread) The same thing occurs, but here it's quite strange, my PC will only seem to reboot when in the middle of an instance, seems to work without error when standing around in a heavily crowded town. Sometimes it'll run smoothly for a good hour or so, but as sure as the weather in the UK sucks, at some point the my PC will crash and reboot (when in an instance and fighting), no BSOD nothing, it'll just reboot.

I don't think it's a temperature problem, during gameplay the temp hits a maximum of 47oC, and when downloading via newsgroups, it doesnt even hit 40oC.

It seems to occur with frightening certainty when performing any of the two stated tasks.

I've run prime 95 and it ran straight for 6 hours without a hitch, memtest seems to report everything ok.

I've done a clean install of windows and both applications yet it still occurs. I'm inclined to think it's restricted to these two applications but I don't see what can be causing it.

Specs are in signature.

If anybody could shine a light on the subject I'd much appreciate it, and if I've posted this in the wrong area, apologies.

Sounds more like a software problem than OC stability tbh, though it's wierd that it happened after clean install. May have no effect whatsoever, but try running Ccleaner in case it's a registry conflict.

hey dev,

thanks for the quick reply, just ran CCleaner and then went to test newsgroup downloads, and all was going well, for about 7 mins then poof, reboot :(

Weak, I have the same problem when I download with Vuze, figured it was too many incoming connections (that's how I fixed it anyway, lowered max connections setting). Not sure if it's the same thing with you, but might be worth fiddling about until someone can offer some good advice :p

Just a little heads up mate, you're only allowed 4 lines to your signature, so you may want to sort it before it gets deleted and you have to type it again.

I'm only saying because mine suffered the same fate :)

Good luck with your problem.

You should try and enable optimized defaults in your BIOS so that everything is running at stock to see whether this still happens or not.

If this stops your system from rebooting then you'll know that the o/c isn't stable.

You might want to sort your sig out mate before you get told off by one of the mods, it's only supposed to contain 4 lines max...

::edit::

LoL beaten to it!! :D

heheh thanks guys, sig changed, I'll give the optimised defaults a go later on tonight when I get home from work.

was in contact with OCUK today and as expected, great customer service, they have provided me with a new overclock profile so I'm giving that a go now and see if it sorts out my problems.
