So the kiddo has been pestering me for a steering wheel for pc games like Forza, beamng drive etc
Looking at the Logitech g29 so far.
Is this a good reliable option or is there an alternative cheaper option I can go with that's decent and reliable?

Iv read up that the thrust master t300 overheats so will avoid stuff like that.
The g29 people seem to complain about it being noisy but no reliability concerns reported.
What other options are there that I should consider?

Don't forget to factor in wheel/pedal holder, fitting to desk everytime is a pain.

Fit & finish on the Logitechs are good, but the mechanics of the wheel feel a bit so so (I have a G25) The pedals feel nice though. not sure how much a DD wheel will cost but if it's not much more I'd go for that.

A DD wheel is the way to go if he's seriously into it. I got rid of my Thrustmaster F340 wheel and ledal setup earlier in the year and moved to a Monza R5 bundle along with the extra clutch pedal and a truck gearshift and it's great. The wheel is so much smoother and quieter and the force feedback is much more intense. Someone is selling a Moza R5 bundle in the MM at the moment.

I would rather have the T300 than the G29, and I own a G29. :D
Reliable, but it's just a toy really.

I feel like you can get the G29 feeling alright in some games, but it really doesn't feel great without the tinkering.
