Hi guys,

Ive got a query, I turned my pc on the other day and everything seemed to be fine. A few seconds later I realised that the pc never made the beep sound after turn on and there is nothing being displayed. Some of the lights such as the keyboard arent turning on either. I need some possible reasons why its doing this as I suspect the psu may have finnaly given up.

Specs:
7 Home 64bit
CPU:Core 2 quad Q6600
Mobo:Asus P5Q SE2 Intel P45 (Socket 775) DDR2 Motherboard
GPU:Nvidia geforce 260GTX
RAM:2x2GB OCZ
PSU:450w

Thanks,
Jonny

Were you running overclocked, wonder if you try a CMOS reset and try each ram individually.

What make was your psu and can you swap with another system to check.

As RJC suggested, test each RAM stick individually. I have a feeling it might be the PSU if it's a cheap one. Is there any labels on the PSU to tell you what brand it is?

Ok ive just tried a BIOS reset and that hasnt worked. And ive had a look at the PSU and its a Sumvision 450W psu. Test each stick individually? So turn it on with one and if that doesnt work try the other?

Yea I know, I was planning on getting a new one when I upgraded the pc a few months ago but the guy in the pc shop said it should be ok. Obviously not.

Yup, that's how you test them. But I don't think we need to bother with that, I feel more comfortable saying the PSU is probably dead. Let's hope it didn't take anything else down with it...
This should do nicely: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-045-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=
You might be able to get away with this though: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-033-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=
