After decided to quit wow (yay), i decided to go back to playing some fps.

Installed crysis, set everything to max, and had a blast running through it with no trouble at all.

After which, i thought id give cod4 a go online to pass some time.
But when i get into a game, i get like 3-5 fps, and it just stutters to ****.Ive patched it and all my system drivers, so i cant figure out what the problem is :p.

My specs are AMD 64 5600+, 4 gig ddr2 ram, 8800gt and a MSN-sli motherbored.

Anyone else had this problem, or know how i could fix it. Oh, and im running a fresh install of xp

bit of exaggeration on the crysis im guessing with a 8800 :p

but it could be your sound drivers, have you got any x-fi hardware? or installed all the latest updates for windows?

Well, i only got a 19 inch monitor, so i play in 1200x1000 res, with everything maxed out as far as i can :p

Naa, haven't installed anything, and windows is up to date... Silly thing doesnt like me anymore :p

u tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

could just be a dodgy install

EDIT: infact its your punk buster, i can remember when this happened to me when i went to play online, you need to update to the latest punk buster

will the game play fine for like 5 seconds then start stuttering? if so then its your punk buster

Got COD 4 running fine on Windows 7 here, although you do have to sort of hack the punkbuster and load it up before you start gaming.

I has this issue yesterday as I've only just got COD 4 and Punkbuster just won't load up its self when you start multiplay COD 4 via steam.

I simply reinstalled PB to desktop and then manually selected the game from the dropdown list and then loaded up MP COD 4 through steam.

I think I have to do this ever time, Not great just at least I can now play it now. :)

i have cod 4 on steam, i get the same problem your descrbing if i run any other steam game before running cod4. Try running the game stright from a restart, also enable dual video cards, i remeber reading this helps for some reason.
