Hi all,

I'm having FPS issues with my PC and not sure what the problem is, I've had it since August 2022 but even then I was having small issues with simple things like Geforce Experience changing my Screen Res to the incorrect res in games and having to manually change it to allow for 165hz.

At the moment, Even in Overwatch 2 my frames are around 120 average on Mid settings and recently started playing Ark Survival Ascended which is around 50 fps on Medium settings. Games like Minecraft have even given me a few issues even by allocating more ram to the game and having the required version of Java installed.
Even a game like Warframe is giving me issues now and then when I'm loading into missions or when there is a lot happening, tried adjusting some settings but no change, Turned all lighting effects/reflections and shadows off, Changed textures down etc.

Specs are below
MSI RTX 3060 TI Gaming X 8g LHR
Ryzen 7 5700x
Crucial m.2 Drive 2tb
Asus Rog Strix B550-f (Wifi) Motherboard
32gb Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz Ram
Gigabyte M27 Q-P Monitor IPS

Currently nothing is overclocked besides having xmp profile 1, And all my drivers are up to date using windows 10 professional.

I'm really struggling to find what the issue is as with this set up I should be able to run games without constant issues.

Only thing I can think the issue is, Is the GPU however from watching benchmarks in the same games with the same sort of setup they seem to run a lot smoother.

Hopefully someone can help me out because I really just want to enjoy games even if they aren't on max and seems like I may never get there lol.

The resolution I'm running is 2560x1440 165hz, Temperatures are never an issue as the curve I've set based on recommendations seems to keep my cpu at around 65-75 on max load.

Psu I'm running is a Corsair Rm750 80 plus Gold fully Modular

The cooler I have on my cpu is the Deepcool Ak620

When you say windows, what do you mean by that? I last updated my bios this year around January, but was having performance issues before then as well so could be something I can look at.. I have my chipset drivers installed and my graphics drivers are the latest, which I think are from the 14th November

What resolution should I be running at if not 1440p? 1080? I'll run a 3d mark now and see what score comes of it but will I be able to post it here or would it generate a link?

I had to use the free version so I did time spy, my graphics score was 11711 and cpu score 10160. Graphics test 1 fps was 77.97 and test 2 was 65.92. Cpu test fps was 34.14 average temperature of gpu is 67 and cpu is 53 according to the bench

i have a 2080 super i can do 30-60 fps on a medium pre-set in ark ascended at 1440p. the 2080 super is around the same performance as the 3060 ti clock for clock. to be fair ark ascended is in the same state as ark survival evolved was at release. an unoptimized mess. in hunt showdown i get 70-90fps. timespy oddly gets me 11711 on the gpu but 11694 as i have an 10700kf. so it would seem your gpu is running as it should performance and temperature wise. have you used hwinfo64 to check the gpu hotspot temp just in case after a long session your gpu is throttling due to hotspot temp?
Seems about right then, I haven't done hwinfo but these days I only get about 2 hours or so before work and then don't get to play in the evening so not really having long sessions

Alright I'll have to give it a go when I get the chance, I have seen quite a decent performance increase dropping down to 1920x1080 but on the 27 inch it looks a bit pixilated, wondering what a good 24 inch would be to get that can tide me over until I upgrade next year... does anyone have any recommendations? Probably looking at spending max 300 for a monitor

So the issue is that GFE is setting my resolution to 3440x1440, can't remember the actual res but it's in the 3k area which the Gigabyte m27q-p max resolution is 2560 x 1440... so it sets the res higher than my monitor can handle and then doesn't fit the screen and not sure why it keeps doing that

Umm, unless I'm misunderstanding you. Buying a £300 monitor to avoid upgrading your graphics card sounds a bit mad :o You'd be better off putting the 300 toward a new one.
My upgrade will most likely be a 4070 ti but right now I can't afford it and the pixelation is going to be a bit much to deal with especially since I have to sit quite close to my monitor haha

In that case it does not sound like GFE upscaling. There may be a problem with your monitor EDID.
Do you think it's something that I can diagnose from testing? It's done that since I bought it out the box, I've tried different HDMI cables but not sure if there are any other ways I can stop it from happening? My games all have the option to select that resolution too which shouldn't be there either

Yeah I'm using display port now, used to use HDMI but in order for me to be able to use 165hz I had to get a display port cable. The resolution is still there whether I use HDMI or DIsplay port
