PC surround sound + xbox 360

Is it possible to have this set-up? If so how?

Depends on the setup?

Your post is slightly vague, do you mean you want the PC and the Xbox to use the same surround sound set? What connector do you need to use for the surround sound on each? Which amp/speaker system do you have?

There's almost certainly a solution though.

If they're both using optical cables to go to your surround, you'll just need a toslink switch.

Basically I don't know all that much about sound systems.

My PC speakers are creative 5.1's with normal red/blue/green (or whatever), is there a way of using this sound setup for the xbox 360?

I use the VGA cable for my 360, then the audio part of that cable goes into the back of my Creative 2.1... i'm hoping to get a 5.1 soon though, bin after one for a while

You can get stereo but not 5.1 without a decoder of some sort such as an AV amp

I'm using a cheap audio switch atm 1x input 3x output (speakers in; TV, 360 and PC out)

to answer your question, the only way to get surround sound on xbox is to use optical. therefore with your creative speakers you have at the moment, you cannot get surround sound from them.

I'm presuming you mean the analogue one. The toslink one I have doesn't effect quality. It's digital after all.

If I used the official HDMI cable, it has the extra audio connectors. .... so is there a convertor or somthing I can buy to get sound out of my speakers?

What about an amplifier? If I connect through that can I get surround sound?
