PC switch off during XP install :(

I've just bought and setup my new PC but the damn thing wont install XP for some reason. I starts the XP blue screen setup, can create a partition (I made it 80GB), it formats it, copies the setup files and then says its going to reboot.. all as normal. After it reboots, it continues with the XP setup, 39 minutes remaining, and after about 1 minute it switches off

Installing XP SP2 CD on:

Quad Pro Q6600
Western Digital 500GB Sata - II
Asus PSK Premium motherboard
2GB ram
PNY Geforce 8800 GT

Any ideas? I am thinking its the processor maybe... Borrowing a vista copy to try to install that and if that works might have to buy it although prefer to use XP tbh.

Check all connections, power supply?

I think this is more a hardware issue rather than a software issue. Unless your xp cd is having problems, have you used it before?

I had similar ages ago and it turned out to be a jumper on the MB.
Took me weeks to work it out!

Ended up with getting the motherboard and memory replaced and it was fine then, very odd
