Pc System Hangs On Shut-Down

Ok guys i posted before about my computer system not shutting down for some reason and just hanging, i managed to figure out what it was i think it's to do with my dvdrw drive that i suspected before! as i have disconected my drive and the comp boots up and shuts down fine, but once connected it hangs on shut-down!

my question is there anything i can do to sort this? or does anyone know what is causing it? or is it just a case of getting a new drive?

Read through your previous threads, and it looks like the drive isgiving you more headaches than its worth. Other than trying the drive on a ide channel by itself, preferably with a new ide cable, i reakon you got a problem with it. Have you tested the drive on a different pc yet?

not on a diff pc, but i have tested it with a different cable! so i'm pretty much writing off the drive!

Check the drive jumpers are set correctly, failing that, goto Device Manager and turn off DMA, set it to use PIO mode and see if that helps ?
