Been having problems on boot up for the last few weeks, can't remember exactly when It started as it was only switched on a couple of times during that period.
The main problem is that when the pc is switched on it attempts to load windows using the dvd drive despite the bios being set to load using the hard drive, I have tried several things including changing boot settings in the bios and removing the cable to the dvd drive.
I know it is searching for the dvd drive because of the noise it makes every few seconds this continues on and off for a total of 50 seconds before I get the post beep. With the dvd drive cable disconnected the noise goes but it still takes just as long.
The main specs are:
Windows XP Pro
Asus P5N-E SLI mother board
Intel Q6600
Not come across anything like this in the past so any suggestions would be great as it is very annoying. Usually have to switch the pc on go and make a cuppa and still wait a minute before I can use windows!
