Pc to tv hdmi problem

When I connect my 660ti through hdmi to my 42 inch LCD tv the windows desktop is horribly blurry the program icons are all fuzzy is this normal because it doesn't look hd to me any tips on improving this?

Have you made sure to set the correct resolution for your TV?

Yea it's full hd native resolution

I mean what screen size is it running at? I'm guessing it should be 1920x1080.

Hm check your T.V settings and see if you can change the picture settings.

Sometimes and this is both for nvidia and amd they have an overscan feature in the display driver settings which makes it look horrendous you want to turn this off or set to 0 and also try and turn every special setting that your tv has off like dynamic contrast etc.. the best settings would be instead of normal or dynamic try professional or THX or that equivalent. hope this kind of helps

I'm only getting 1680x1050 on the tv for max game resolution

See if there's scaling options in the Nvidia control panel?

Also check if there's a "game" mode or pixel mapping option in the TV settings.

have you got it on the right HDMI socket on the tv ,the one on mine gots HDMI/DVI on it and your manual should tell you which one to use for a pc
