PC to TV question

Hi guys wonder if you can answer a question for me please.

I want to connect my XFI soundcard to my tv to watch (and listen) to video.

My question is, do I have to unplug my pc speakers every time i want to do this and plug in the RCA phono lead into the port that my speakers were in on the soundcard or can i use another port so i can leave my pc speakers attached?

I've got a 3.5mm splitter on my audigy 2 so I can connect my headphones and speakers at the same time. Should be able to do something similar?
