pc turning itself on

hi,

shure this has been mentioned before by others but i have tried all the usuall supects

sometimes at around 3.25am the pc will turn itself on, i turn it off and it will start again, usually after this its stays off

have tried turning wakeup off all mice and keyboards, network cards off too and disabled wake in bios

also thought i have found it when i disabled windows updates as this can update at around 3am

have looking in last wake in cmd = 0
looking in tasks i have not found anything

what have i missed as i dont know what else to check

Did you check tasks via "schtasks" in the command prompt? It should be easier to see if one was missed.

Is the router rebooting itself?

if you cant figure it out you could always switch it off on the powersupply

ARe you with BT?
Do you have an original white box bt homehub?

Turn off wake on LAN in the bios or switch to using the wireless connection instead.

disable wake on lan for starters. Do you actually shutdown or use a power saving mode like standby?

The same thing happens to me.
I'm with Virgin
I'll have a look in the BIOS settings and see if anything could cause it (not tried to fix as it only happens from sleep mode and i turn the PC off overnight)
I know it’s not the most informative post but I Just thought I’d let you know you’re not alone!

on virgin, disabled wake on lan and all mice and keyboards which can wake your pc
and its on standby not shutdown

anything else to look at?

I had this, my Win 7 laptop would wake at 22:42 each evening. Found that Google Toolbar updater scheduled task was set to wake the computer. Modified the task, and all is OK now.

I usually turn my PC off since I got a SSD but when I used to put it in standby, I would just set S3 power state in BIOS and Wake by BIOS only so that I would have to press the power button to awake it.

Also, ghosts.

Check media centre scheduled tasks. They go off at silly o clock and wake the pc up to do them

set up a camera and record through the night, see if there is any paranormal activity... i recently saw a cctv image from my mates shops which clearly had a ghost woman in it

it could be physical, I had a problem where if someone push he face of the tower to the left a little bit, it would turn itself off, it turnes out that it pushed a wire that made the power button circuit which would turn it off and on.

sometimes completely on it's own.

I had to realign how the power switch cable ran and it was problem sorted.

Yours might be different thoug, because mione use to turn itself off and on, yours is just on so I assumme software related.

yes eventually that worked, was media center updating :rolleyes:
