Morning all,

As the title says really.

I thought it was me forgetting to turn it off. Made sure it was off last night and when I woke up for work this morning, there it was in all it’s glory wasting my leccy and making Greta cry.

Any idea what’s causing it?

Only possible option at this point is ghosts, ghosts and wake on lan. Check bios for wake on lan settings or something similar. If not ghosts.

Turn the power off at wall, if it still turns on then get a priest. If not, then besides checking for WOL, etc, perhaps also scan the PC for malware.

Definitely check the PC for malware. Upgrade the BIOS, drivers, Windows, and any utility programs such AuraSync, iCue etc.

Wake timers usually did this on my machine, in advanced power options. Or are you shutting the machine down rather than sleeping? If so, yeah, Ghosts

Wake on lan or
Wake on usb
Or got cats?
Mines a little bugger for
Standing on the pc power button
And turning it on
As the pcs on the floor
And power buttons on top
Of the pc case

Managed to check the bios on my lunch break and it’s on wake on bios or something along those lines? I’m really new to PCs so forgive me if that sounds ridiculous. When I click that is gives me the option to switch to OS.

Is this Win10, because by default Win10 does not shut down fully (it is a type of Hybrid Sleep), so any Windows settings in the Device Manager like Mouse/Keyboard/WIFI/Bluetooth etc can wake it up unless you uncheck these boxes.

I would leave the Keyboard along so you can wake up PC if you need to but an optical mouse is a bad culprit as they can move slightly when you walk past or you are near a busy road with heavy traffic.

Bios usually has some thing
though each bios is
Different
Like Wake on magic packet
Wake on usb
And as said if using
Sleep or hybrid sleep or hibernate
Then there's also settings
In the WiFi or ethernet
Power management settings
To untick
And possibly usb selective suspend
In power plan advanced settings

Is your computer bright red and called Christine?

Need more details on how you're switching the PC off.

Are you performing a full shutdown or some sort of sleep/hibernate? If either of the latter 2, then could be a number of things switching it back on.
