My PC has been working fine but since last night it turns off every time I try to turn it on. It get up to the Windows boot screen or sometimes I can log-on then turns off suddenly. I have not done anything with it so I cant see what the problem is

Specs:
i7 920
Asus P6T
9GB Corsair RAM
Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 750W
WD Raptor 300GB
Windows 7 Ultimate

Could be anything, usually when it freezes or suddenly shuts off its memory related so you need to figure out if it is or not by testing with one ram stick then repeat with the other sticks, could be psu also, could pop out the mb battery for 30mins to fully clear cmos and try,it will reset the BIOS settings though

Use memtest86+ to verify the memory is operative. Try using one memory stick at a time and try the single sticks in different slots. If one stick of memory fails in all slots, then its almost certainly a RAM problem. If the working RAM stick works in one slot but not another, then this is certainly going to be an memory controller problem which is integrated on the CPU (IMC). Your only testing the RAM here so don't worry about dual or triple channel memory for the test.

Check that the memory is set correctly i.e. Frequency, VDIMM and latency timings. Check the manufacturers website for details.

If your memory looks ok, then you may need to check your PSU:

If you can boot into your system via safe mode, then take a good look at the system dump and Event Manager for clues. Event manager is often overlooked and under estimated. Whislt in safe mode, disable any startup programs that maybe be causing problems on normal boot.

Hi all, I opened my case and checked all the cables and components which were fine. Then I turned it on and it stayed on! How odd.
