Evening all,

There once was a time, in my younger days, when I was fixated with the latest tech, was great with hardware and software and loved building my own PC's and overclocking them.

Those days are long gone and my skills are both outdated and forgotten! I have an old gaming PC I built myself years ago running XP (though it was built during the days of Vista if memory recalls). I use it only to play old games, predominantly C&C Zero Hour.

Recently after a few hours of gaming it turns itself off. No blue screen of death or bleeps or smoke etc. Just turns off!

Any advice on where to start to find and fix this issue would be appreciated! I assume step one is to use a stress test software to see if its overheating?

Any help welcome!

Note: I do not want to simply throw it away and buy a new/second hand one because 1) I don't like waste 2) I built this old bad boy, would love to keep him going!

It might be the power supply.

Try running the PSU test in OCCT with 'error checking' turned on.

Thank you for your advice. Sorry to be a pain, can you give me more detailed advice on how to do the above or do I simply install the software and its self explanatory?

Shall I run prime 95 also to see if its overheating when under stress? That is what Prime 95 does/checks right?
