Hi Guys, i have followed these forums for a long time, and have solved many pc problem by looking through here. Now i have decided to sign up as i have tried everything (that i know) to solve it.
I am no pc whizz by any means but have a decent knowledge of my machine.
Last week i turned on my pc to find out strangely that it wouldn't boot due to a corrupt bios, i then flashed the bios and everything went well. Unfortunately i have now hit another problem, that the pc randomly turns off without any warning. I have taken the computer apart twice and tried running just on barebone system (just having my c drive and my keyboard plugged in) and still i have this problem. I have checked all capacitors on the motherboard and all seem fine my temperatures are fine 30 - 40 degrees idle and i dont ever hit 50 under load. I have been told that it may have been an auto shut off option set to the wrong limit when i had flashed it, however i have trawled through bios and can only find fan rpm limits rather than temp limits. I do have rivatuner installed but this has never caused problems in the past. The only thing i can narrow it down to is my power supply. I have thouroughly cleaned it and tried it but still no luck. It will sometimes come on for an hour sometimes 24 hours etc.. and then all of a sudden just power down. As soon as this happens i am able to turn the pc back on again without problem.
Due to me being rather skint at the moment, i just wanted to check with you guys that it couldnt possibly be anything else as i dont want to go out buy a psu and then find out it was something staring me straight in the face! All drivers are up to date and i have even tried swapping ram sticks to different slots with no luck!!
ANY help would be much appreciated!!
my specs:
Mobo - Asus p5n-e sli
CPU - Core 2 duo (Arctic cooling Hs and fan)
GPU - Nvidia 8800 GTS 360
RAM - 4gb Corsair (2x2gb sticks)
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
PSU - 400 Watt
If you need any more info about it, i will get it no probs.
Thanks again!
