PC TV card.

I didn't really know where to put this other than the graphics card section so here goes. I'll be needing a way of getting my monitor to get TV channels etc for uni my monitor is NEC 24WMGX3 I don't know if there is anyway apart from getting a TV card for your computer for it to act as a tv so just need advice on which TV card is the best to get.

you can get a vga to tv box as an alternative to a PCI card, use can also use a vga to scart adaptor to connect to a freeview box

Oh really? Can you get HDMI to scart or anything with HDMI?

Hmm yeah so I just thought I'll be able to connect a free view box by HDMI, instead of getting a TV card. I never thought of that until KingZeddy said, Thanks.

although with a good tv card you can record etc.

although you might have a hard drive in your free view box i guess

not straight HDMI you will need something like this http://www.avermedia.eu/avertv/uk/product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=13 using DVI

Yeah true but I doubt I'll want to record anything, I just want a box standard one that looks alright don't want to pay that much for it since it's just for uni.

fair play - and most things you would want to record, will be downloadable from the web anyway.
