I switched cases today, but when I tried to turn on the PC it just didn't turn on, there's a flicker of blue light from my led fan but then nothing. What could this be?

I've checked the motherboard pin connectors and they're put in properly.

Another thing, it's like it's turning on in the fact that to get the led's to flicker again I have to hold down the power button as if I'm turning it off then click the power button again.

I just took the battery thing out for 10 minutes then put it back in, the same thing happens so nothing has changed

Do as "RJC" suggested. Disconnect all hard drives, cd roms, pci cards etc. Have only the CPU, RAM and Graphics (onboard if possible). Use only one Ram module in DIMM 1 closest to CPU, try all modules if at first it fails.

Then as also suggested, take it out the case and try firing it up outwith the case to eliminate any shorts.

If it was shorting it should be alright, never really seen any long term damage from shorts. Fingers crossed anyway.

Just did what you suggested, the CPU fan was spinning fully but it didn't sound like the PC was fully on. I will plug the monitor in to see if anything comes up.

Ok, it seems to be working by following what you said, it says there's some sort of CMOS error.

I'm not entirely sure what was wrong then though.

Thanks for the help everbody, thanks Buchanan0204, I've plugged everything in and it loads, I will do a cmos reset shortly :)
