Take it the athlon is better?

the phenom;) is slower, but the AM3 socket has a future.

and the gold ram has many complaints.

Hmm how about that then?

What did you mean about the am3 socket having a future? if you mean i could throw a processor in there later, ive never upgraded processor before i just do these barebones upgrades every 3 or 4 years.

So i guess the big question is is the phenom* better than the i5 with these motherboards included in the calculation?

What he means is, Intel are replacing the 1156 and 1336 sockets next year. In contrast, the AM3 socket is likely to be used by the new Bulldozer AMD chips, and beyond that (Intel like replacing sockets, AMD keep them around much longer).

The i5 is better than the Phenom by a few FPS in games, but replacing a processor is very easy, and it could save you money in the long run. The i5 is very nice though (biased :)).

If the phenom posted is just a few fps slower than the i5 how does teh AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) measure up to the i5 being the same price and all?
