Hi guys,

First time poster on the forum here, just wanting to sanity check the upgrade options I've semi-decided on pulling the trigger on if anyone is free to check it out. (I already have a case, cooler, ssd card and peripherals).

Thank you for the information I've managed to gather from you guys already! Any information/guidance would be massively appreciated!

Chris

There's not much point buying a 12600K anymore (especially not @ £300), the 13600K is a superior CPU (it made the entire 12th gen line-up obsolete really), but the B760 boards aren't out yet and many B660 boards don't have BIOS flashback, so it makes it tricky if you have a limited budget.

I'd swap the G12-GC-750 for the Phanteks AMP or Seasonic GX versions, since these are actually built by Seasonic, have a 10 year warranty (versus 5 on the G12) and a higher build quality. They're also not much more, surprisingly.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with any of your choices but 12400f is £200 and 13600k is £330 which puts the £300 12600k in a tricky spot.

Tetras beat me to it. Was also going to mention the PSU and advise to buy either of those 2 as well.

Motherboard. Is your case Micro ATX ? if so not a problem but that gigabyte mobo has no real VRMs so will potentially throttle on full core loads. MSI mobos tend to have much more robust VRMs and handle the higher core count 12th gen better. Stock is limited on B660 so can be annoying to find the mobo you want at the correct price so may have to shop around.

Thanks for the tips guys, it's much appreciated!

@Tetras - I've subbed my original psu for the Phanteks, thanks for the recommendation.

@Haz123 - do you think this motherboard would be better in terms of its VRAM in comparison to the one I posted last night?

Yes that would be a better mobo imho, if you see it has actual heatsinks over the VRMs and that is a good idea as test results show.

You really need to stop posting links to ocmpetitors and remove the ones you have.
