Hi All,

I am thinking about updating components after about a 5 year run... currently only looking at replacing Graphics Card and RAM, unless otherwise convinced more will provide noticeable performance.

Current setup:

CPU: i5-2500K @ 3.3ghz (tried overclocking but system failed about 6 months ago and won't overclock)
GFX: HD6950 2gb CF
MOBO: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen 3
RAM: 8GB (Corsair PC3-10700H (667MHz))
PSU: 1000W
HDD: Main = SSD / Games = 7200rpm HDD

I was looking at upgrading the gfx to the AMD 390 and adding another 8gb of ram...

Currently I play Star Citizen, Far Cry, the usual FPS games. I am fed up with the HD6950CF and always having to play with settings in order to get the desired performance, so sticking with one card for the upgrade.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Yup looks good, start a thread on the overclocking section of forum about your overclock and people might be able to help ya get it running again, tis a shame to have a 2500k running so slow.

390 is a good choice, for ram i would normally suggest just see whats on offer, i dunno if theres any compatibility issues with older boards though so i would check that.

Thanks for the replies, I will probably go with this upgrade route tomorrow.

Does anyone recommend the nVidia price tag over the 390's? It seems like the performance increase vs cost is not justified...
