hi all,
I posted here a week or so ago about a new build for a gaming pc. well things have change due to unforeseen circumstances :(

so I am now in a different situation....
I now have less money to spend on a build, but I have my old desktop that my brother has had for the last 3-4 years.
I'd still like a half decent gaming pc but am not so worried about photo editing at the moment. i also have an external 1tb hd for storage of music pics etc. so wont need masses of internal storage.
the spec of the ageing desktop is( sorry if I miss something):

Antec 900 case
Asus pfk-e MB
E8400 3.0ghz core 2 duo
asus silent knight 2 cpu cooler
Asus hd-6850
hitachi 500gb hd
generic dvd/rw
icute 750w psu
g-skill ddr2-6400 ram (2x 2gb)
windows 7 64bit
samsung syncmaster sa350 monitor
logitech g15 keyboard
logitech g500 mouse
logitech 5.1 surround sound system

so my questions are....

do i spend the money i have on upgrading this desktop?
if so what will be the best performance increases for least outlay?
or do i stick with it for 5-6months and save a bit more money for a new build?
( and think anyone might buy it so i can put proceeds to new build? )

thanks for reading and sorry for the long post

I would do it in stages. Get a GPU and PSU now, then motherboard, cpu and memory later, then add an SSD etc

Buy some parts now that wont go out of date as quickly as boards, CPU's can.

Then when you have the other £500 then swap out the CPU, RAM and board.

You can sell anything on there lol. I don't know what your case is like tbh. If you like the case and the temps don't get too high then I can't see much of an issue keeping it.
