PC upgrade - how much faster?

I want to get an idea of how much faster my PC will be after upgrading. Currently, I have a Pentium 4 2.6Ghz with 1mb of DDR2 2700 RAM (333Mhz). I am thinking of upgrading to maybe an Overclocker Value system with the following spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo E2160 1.80GHz
Corsair 1GB DDR2 800MHz Memory (2x1GB)

Any idea how much faster this PC will be?

Thanks,

Jon

I think you mean that you're going from DDR not DDR2?

It will be faster, a fair bit but depends on what you use it for. If you use it for gaming then it will depend a lot on graphics as well. What os do you run? what motherboard do you have? can it even support the new chip and ram?

Sorry, when I say upgrade I mean actually replacing it with an Overclocker Value system. I use it mainly for number crunching and data recovery but where we analyse files, typically about 20mb in size. No games played on it at all. We also have Outlook running on it at all times and Kaspersky Internet Security.

a c2d will be a lot faster and more efficient for multitasking
[plus wont need as much cooling as a p4]
you may be best going for the 2gb set of geil 800mhz ull ram on ocuk

its a great set - [i have two] and it will complement a c2d well

bt like the guy above me said
make sure your motherboard is capable of this all
sounds to me like you will need a new mobo for the ddr2 ram and probably something that runs c2d as standard without a bios upgrade

you can get a decent board to support that hardware for about £50 on ocuk

only thing is that windows [i assume thats what you run] will need reinstalling
so you may need a new license for that too

EDIT* a better explination at the start would have saved me typing all this out
