I am looking at upgrading an old tower. I have the roms and the case also a apg graphics card.

I want to take out the old cpu and board and put in a new one with spending around £100.

I have 1 gig of DDR2 knocking around and would like to keep the agp card (TI4200) as working fine.

Would I need a new PSU?

The pc will be used for encoding films and burning. I will not be linking to net or running anything off it like games.

What would you recomend?

What about this Asrock board and this CPU

Comes in at almost exactly £100, plus postage. That would give you a nice fast system and enable you to re-use your AGP graphics (assuming that it isn't a 3.3v card - see the motherboard reviews) and DDR2 RAM.

The old system is a P4 2.4ghz 533fsb.

I want to use my Nvidia TI4200 agp card 64mb I think. and put some spare DDR2 ram in I have from last upgrade on my newer system (1gb).

Like above it will be used for encoding and burning dvds.

I will have no need for overclocking unless its a easy option and if it would make a large difference to my encoding times.

What would give me more encoding power on the above 2 cpus?

I have amd at the min and its a nice chip but I know Intel have the upper hand at the min and looking at the prices, they are around the same...

check the psu for manufacturer and there may be a label on it that details 12v/5v/3.3v and shows the ampage for each line.
