OK so all of the forums I have used so far have to be honest.. be absolutely useless! (imagine swearing of high content here) and have annoyed me to the end of the earth so I turn to Overclockers for help..

OK so. In a nutshell. Here we go.

Current PC (about 2-3 years old)
Case: Micro ATX Tower Case
PSU: 350W PSU (Unbranded i think, came as a pre-built PC)
GPU: ZOTAC nVidia 9500GT 1GB
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 5200+ Dual Core @ 2.7Ghz
RAM: 4GB @ 800Mhz DDR2 240-pin
HDD: 320GB S/ATA (Model Unkown, Probs unbranded)
MB: FOXCONN A74MX-S/A74MX-K (Google says it doesnt exist o.O)

At xmas and during the next year im hoping to make large changes and transform this into a gaming PC. Here is a copy and paste from the specs stated above WITH the changes I'll be making at xmas.

Wanted Specs;
Case: Antec 900 Nine Hundred - Gaming Case with 200mm Top Fan - No PSU
PSU: Coolermaster GX 650W PSU - 6x SATA 2x PCI-E 80plus Certified
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 460 OC 1GB GDDR5 OC Edition Dual DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 5200+ Dual Core @ 2.7Ghz
RAM: 4GB @ 800Mhz DDR2 240-pin
HDD: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 (7,200rpm) S/ATA
MB: FOXCONN A74MX-S/A74MX-K (Google says it doesnt exist o.O)

And then later in the year ill upgrade the Motherboard, RAM and CPU (when the time comes around ill be making another post ). Highly likely to be a Phenom II X4 Black edition, 4GB 1333Mhz RAM Dual Channel (no brand decided yet) and an Asrock 890GX Extreme3 Mobo. Feedback on this will also be appreciated but wont be very helpfull at this time I dont think.

Upgrade budget for the above is around £300-350 (This doesnt cover the budget that will be used when upgrading the CPU, MB and RAM later on) so any suggestions, Ideas, Feedback, changes? All welcome thanks!

PLEASE NOTE: Before anybody posts I would like to say that I have taken into account that if I perform this upgrade the GPU will not run at its full capability unless I upgrade my CPU. I am aware of this but It doesnt really bother me because I'll be upgrading it anyway. Besides at least it will still run better than my rubbish 9500GT even if its not at its full capability.

i would probably just upgrade the case, psu and hdd and maybe monitor as these are the things that wont change in the upcoming months, new gpu's coming out this month and new cpu's coming out next month.

Yeah.. I heard that the 69xx was supposed to be coming out shortly. As for the CPU we will have to wait and see whats coming but I havn't heard much about CPU's apart from the AMD Opterons? or something like that.

Still need to know what im doing with this upgrade though, if it will be a good upgrade and make my PC a lot better for gaming (considering the GPU will be wont be running at full capability until i upgrade the rest).

Sandy Bridge(socket 1155) is the successor of socket 1156 i3/i5/i7 8xx.
Bulldozer will be AMD's new socket(AM3+) due out Q2 2011.
The successor of i7 9xx is Socket 2011 and will be due out Q3/Q4 2011.

Ermm, Guys? :D Im still trying to decide if i should go ahead with the upgrade i thought of and then upgrade the MB, CPU and RAM later in the year to create an entirely new PC :D!!

when will you be buying the first "upgrade"?
if you really want to upgrade upgrade the case, psu, and hdd and maybe monitor...
keep the rest until you can buy the rest ie, gpu, ram, cpu, mobo etc.
