i have purchased amd phenom 2 x4 quad core bundle and a 550w PSU , i will use my own HDD (160gb 7200rpm) is the 550w PSU going to be enough? and is there anything else i will need to buy for example video/sound or network cards? thx!

the board should have built in sound and network. but you will most likely need a graphics card. and that psu should be fine. but what brand is the psu?

Depends on how much you think is cheap.

But I wouldn't risk running that card with that system & that PSU, especially if you plan on overclocking both.

Er, no.

The power supply is cheap and nasty and doesn't even have enough power connectors for the 5850 without using molex converters.

If you have just got it then send it back. It's a crap psu built down to a budget using cheap components. It will never get anywhere near it's claimed 550w output.

Never, ever skimp on the psu!!

It has an 8 pin power connector for the CPU and two 6/8 pin power connectors for a graphics card like the 5850.

The cabling isn't sleeved but but it's the cheapest PSU that will do a proper job.

The OCZ isn't ideal if the OP is getting a HD 5850.

That PSU only has one 6 pin power connector and the graphics card needs two.
