In bed, asleep.
I've decided it's time to upgrade my venerable QX6700 platform for something a bit newer and shinier as I've had it since new and it's getting a bit long in the tooth. SSD's, monitors, graphics, case, soundcard are all being re-used so it's just a new CPU, motherboard, memory and cooler required. My graphics card is a GTX680.

Here were my initial thoughts. I'd definitely like to be overclocking the setup:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K - OEM
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-OC
Memory: 16GB - Not sure what though.
Cooler: AIO - Not sure what though.

My existing PSU is an Enermax Galaxy 850W which I've had for about 6 years now so I don't know if I should really replace it.

My overall budget for the build is around £650 for the 4 components above but obviously if I need to spend more (for the PSU) that's fine, as is less!

Well I won't be doing the upgrade until around the middle of June so hopefully there's more news on the 4790k chips. Should be ok, it's a Lian Li PC-A71 but I'll check it's dimensions tonight.

Certainly it's not ever given me any problems and there's no indication that anything is wrong with it now. I guess if I bought a new one I'd be looking for something in the 600w-800w range anyway.
