Hello - a couple of years ago you fellow forum gurus assisted me in choosing parts for a new computer I was building - after some useful discussion a build was decided on and I brought all the parts and have been happily running it for the last couple of years.

It's now time to upgrade so I'm seeking advice again - I would like where possible to be able to re-use some of the current hardware I have therefore keeping the price down.

the reason for the upgrade is Fallout4 (and probably SW battlefield) - my current build won't run it very well (or at all).

I will post my current build in the next post below!

Thanks in advance.

I'd probably replace the CPU with a quad core Sandybridge - 2500K are the most common on the used market but the K isn't essential as you can't overclock it with that chipset anyway.

Then replace the 560 Ti with something more modern - there's cards at every price point you just need to pick one.

You also ought to migrate to a SSD.

So really at most you can get away with keeping your motherboard, memory, PSU, case, and optical drive. But a new motherboard/CPU(/memory) combo wouldn't be a bad idea if the money allows.

Thanks - just noticed that black friday is coming up soon, as you can see from my original build I took advance of a couple of offers so it might be worth taking a look next week if OC are doing the same.

It might be easier just to get a new machine as it looks like witht he bundles the only thing worth keeping is probably the case and opticial drive!
