Good afternoon everyone!

Half way through the week, hope we are all having a good'en.

I have been visiting these forums for about 8 years now, albeit the last time I actually logged in and posted was back in 2009 :o. I see so many people get help from the community with their issues which I think is great - keep it up guys!

Now I am pretty much a nub when it comes to computer hardware. I purchase my last PC off overclockers about 2 years ago and I wanted to get some ideas on how I can upgrade it for better performance and longevity. Therefore, I would be really grateful if you guys can offer up some potential upgrades to my system. I am not looking to spend vast sums of money, but I will take a look at any upgrades suggested!

My build (as found after searching for the invoice!) is as follows:

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 4GHz
Saphire Radeon R9 270x Boost OC 4096mb GDDR5 PCI-Express
8GB DDR3 PC3-12800C11 TeamGroup RAM
Windows 7 64bit
Asus M5a97 LE R2.0 AMD 973 DDR3 Motherboard
Samsung 120GB SSD 840 Evo. Sata 6gb/s
Seagate Barracuda 1tb HDD

Samsung 500gb SSD 850 Evo (added by myself at Christmas)

Hopefully you don't need any more info than that? Let me know though.

Also hoping to get a new headset - looking at the Hyperx Cloud II - I seem to be having all manner of headphone problems with cheap headsets - whether it is the headset or the PC - none the less I have spent hours upon hours trying to fix it, when really I just need to actually spend some money on a headset!

Anyway - thanks guys!

It would help if we knew what the main uses of your system are. If it is gaming, then a Gpu upgrade would be the likely route.

You could also get an aftermarket cooler and 0C the 8350. Cooler size will be dependent on your case.

Hi Idleman

I mainly use my system for gaming (and a bit of work and studying!). I have racked up several hundred hours on Dayz, GTA V, Fallout 4, CSGO etc.

Hope this helps!

I only upgrade for better performance. So if you think your 270X is struggling or you what want to run the games at higher settings, then a Gpu upgrade is the way to go. What Gpu to recommend is dependent on your budget.

Not sure on how good the onboard audio is on your mobo, but you could try updating the drivers from the Asus website. Alternatively, you could look at getting a cheap sound card, if the problems persist.

If you're aiming for 1080p and an R9-270X isn't cutting it. I'd say GTX 970 or R9-390. Really your cpu isnt the best gamer.
