PC Upgrade.

Hi, I hope someone on here can help as I'm pretty clueless when it comes to PC parts.

Currently my PC runs COD: Modern Warfare at about 45-70 FPS but it does fluctuate quite a lot, I don't necessarily need high FPS, as long as it can stay consistent.

Here is my current build:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
Processor: AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz Six Core Processor
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Hard Drive: 1TB SATA3 6Gbs Hard Drive
Memory: 16 GB
Power Supply: Aerocool Integrator 500W

I upgraded the graphics card recently so I would be looking to upgrade the CPU but with an old motherboard I fear I'll have to upgrade that as well.

My max budget is £250.

That's going to be a difficult PC upgrade given that you'll have to replace CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

But the 1060 supports GSync so a new monitor might be a solution:

The second monitor is there not for the refresh rate but because it's IPS.

GSync will remove the stuttering and tearing you see, thus hiding the fluctuations.

This is my current monitor, would this be causing some of the tearing?

The important thing is that your current monitor does not support Variable Refresh Rates (VRR) - Freesync or GSync. VRR will smooth over the wild swings in frame rates. If you upgrade the guts of your PC you'll smash 60 fps but you'll be way over budget.

Ideally, you should do both.

I would try for a Ryzen 1600AF and pretty much any B450 board with a cheap 16GB 3000mhz or better DDR4 kit.

Should be able to do that for £250 ish

I've recently started having a lot more spikes where my FPS will drop as low as 25 FPS, only for split seconds but enough to ruin gameplay, should my PC be able to run this game on low/mid settings without this occurring?

Hey @rdd,

I'd say you have a slightly better rig than mine. How are your graphics settings? My settings are medium:
Texture reso: Medium
Texture filter: High
Shadows: Low/Medium
Ambient Occ: Off: I can turn this on in Multiplayer. Warzone is hungry for power which understandable
Anti-Aliasing: Filmic SMAA X2

Above are the important settings, the rest I have turned off or the low setting.

I run:
Texture res: Medium
Texture filter: Low
Shadows: Normal
Ambient Occ: Off
Anti-Aliasing: SMAA x1

Likewise with the other settings, I've tried putting everything on low and even then I have huge FPS drops. Without the huge spikes I get around 60-80 FPS
