Hello everyone,

I really want to upgrade my dads computer as it's got a really old intel i3 on 4gb DDR3 ram and a GT 660 GPU. I already have some parts which I can use to upgrade the computer but I wanted to ask some questions about the overall build.

Parts I already have:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
- Cooler: Wraith which came with the 2600x
- 450 Watt Power Supply:
- Motherboard: X470 Pro
- 16gb of 3200MHZ DDR4 Ram (2x 8gb)

Parts I need:

PSU: 450 Watts isn't great so upgrade maybe?
GPU: I was looking at the 5500 xt not sure if this will work
M.2: I was looking at the 1tb corsair MP 600 as they are currently rocking a western digital HDD
Case: I was looking at the O11 Dynamic as my mate will sell me their old one for 70 quid.

Please let me know any suggestions of parts and I really want to try and keep this under 350 pounds.

It will work, but does he play any games on the PC?

Nice case, but seems a bit large and fancy for your dad?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £372.90 (includes delivery: £11.98)

That's an interesting choice I just have few questions. How reliable is the M.2 because I haven't heard of that brand before and I have no current fans so will I need to get any for the case and will there be any bottleneck with that GPU?

They're fine, Kioxia are previously Toshiba and they're a major manufacturer. The G2 uses TLC memory (a lot of the cheap drives use inferior QLC nowadays) and has 400 TBW rating in the 1TB capacity, which is less than the SN570 (600), but alright. That said, all SSDs can fail with no warning.

It has 1x 120mm fan, which should be sufficient.

With the 2600X there will be some bottlenecking, but since he was using an old i3 and GT 660 before, nothing worth worrying about. It is a lot faster than a 5500, so if he does any serious gaming the RX 6600 is the cheapest new card I'd get.

Alright thanks I will get these parts, they don't do any serious gaming just a bit of Minecraft and Baldurs gate but at the rate games are going these days it will hopefully do well for then next 3 - 5 years

BG3 is pretty demanding actually, surprised he can even play it :D
