Hi guys. Wandering if you could help me with a big problem im
having. As the title says i cant get my pc to post.
Not too long ago i left my computer running only for a few hours and when i came back home windows had crashed. It was just stuck on the desktop screen. The fans were still running but there was no response from either keyboard or mouse, so i had to restart.

When i restarted there were no beeps that used to sound and nothing loaded. All the fans were running (case, cpu, gpu) but that was it. Nothing else happened.
Being advised it could be a faulty mobo i bought an evga 780i sli *** board. When all the hardware was installed on this i tried booting and it went straight to the 'ff' error code. Again all the fans would be running but nothing would load and there would be nothing showing on the monitor.

I got a hold of a be quiet! Pro 1000w psu thinking it may be caused due to a faulty psu but still i got the ff error code straight away when using this one.
Even when there is nothing connected to the board or even just a stick of ram and the cpu i get the same error code.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heres my full specs:
Old board - asus p5n32-e sli plus
New board - evga 780i sli ***
Old psu - corsair hx620
New psu - be quiet! Dark power pro1000
Gpu cards - bfg 8800gtx oc and evga 8800gtx (in sli)
Cpu - intel q6600
Ram - 4gb geil ddr2 pc 6400 (4 x 1gb)
Hdd's - 2 x sony 250 gb sata
Case - antec 900
Cpu fan - akasa revo cooler

Sorry for such a long post but i wanted to give as much detail as possible because i really am at a dead end with this.
Again thanks for any help in the matter

FF means it is posting properly afaik. It sounds like a graphics card problem. It is similar to the problem i am having but i get some beeps.

Can you try one card a time as maybe one was faulty as i think mine was? apologies if have already tried this.

Also i dont know if this will help you or not but there is a post on the evga forums with some troubleshooting steps that may help you: worth a shot

No i havent run memtest yet. I thought you needed to be able to access the bios and change boot priorities for that to work and i cant get into the bios.

And in reply to the second, yes i have tried both cards individually and still the same ff error.

Thats the thing though, FF on my 680i means all is good and pc posts. why there is no display is weird. If u could get a card for a lend, then you could defo rule out both cards being faulty( if that is the issue )

Sounds like you've diagnosed the fault yourself and it's either a dead board or a dead cpu. Have you disconnected everything even usb devices?

It cant be a dead board because i had the new evga one tested by overclockers and they said it was working.

Sorry for the silly question but how would i know if the cpu was dead?

Just because they said it was working doesn't mean you haven't blown it up since you've installed it into your system though

Try testing the cpu in another machine if it's possible.

I take it you have connected all the right power cables to the mainboard and GPU's?

Another thing to check would be rogue standoffs under the board that could be shorting it out.
