PC will not Power On

New build (P8Z68-V, 2600, 8gb) one minute it will power on next it will not. Cannot see anything shorting, very annoying. It turned on a couple of times now it will not. Any ideas?

Have you tried building it outside of the case?

What PSU and cooler are you using?

Ocz 850W and corsair cooler. One minute it posts, next time not. Tried different plug sockets and a different psu (hx 620) its really weird and very annoying.

The red power led on the motherboard is on, what does thatean?

It will not post but every hour or so it will turn on, but next time it will not! What could cause this? It's very weird.

I know you will have already done this but:

Take all the components out and do a basic build on your desk (use onboard graphics etc)
Add components one at a time.
If it is still working, build it back into the case

More than likely you will have something touching something somewhere. Keep an eye out for stress points when building the parts back into the case.

Yes. It will not even power on with drives attached but I disconnected all drives and it posted! Turned it off, connected drive and it will not power on again! Infuriating.

New Motherboard manual says sata defaults to ahci. I'm trying to boot off my existing windows 7 install (I know not ideal but should work) if it is not ahci (probably IDE not sure tbh whatever default was on old board (in sig) would that stop it from powering on?
